Holiday Fruitcake
I have never really understood the problem people have with fruitcake – butter cake with fruit, how is this not good? Well, I suppose the fact that commercial bakers have exploited the natural density and shelf-like of a fruitcake to make a cake which you could ship to Mars 300 years after it came out of the oven might explain it.

My experience with fruitcake has heartstrings; I was fortunate to have my great-grandmother a part of my life into my adult years. Grama was a wonderful cook that taught me to make good things like egg noodles, chicken fried steak and fruitcake.
